Born out of the blue between a whisky and coke and the next one, Mr. Potter is a UK eco-fashion startup designing ceramic bow ties, braces and collars.
For those of you who haven’t come across it yet, ceramic is a totally eco-friendly material handcrafted and hand-painted with ancient techniques that are handed down by generations of artisans. It comes straight from the Earth and – when its use is over – returns to it. Ceramics is beautiful, shining, incredibly resistant and can take a wide variety of shapes and forms. It is one of the most durable materials available to humans, and for millennia it has been used to create drinking vessels, jugs, plates, vases and even jewellery.
Co-founders Joe Vins and Marcelo say that when the idea first came out, they all had a loud laugh but then immediately realised that the only way to turn down senseless dogmas and cliches is to create robust alternatives to them – and that ceramics had just the right amount of ethics, quirkiness and innovation to trigger a real change into today’s fashion world.
Blending ethics, art and creativity into old-fashioned accessories Mr. Potter aims to offer a valuable alternative to the by-products of fast fashion. All Mr. Potter creations are, in fact, intended to encourage people to be different, innovate their choices and be willing to embrace a more ethical and sustainable way of thinking and buying fashion.
Moreover, Mr. Potter’s commitment doesn’t stop with the right selection of sustainable materials and inspiring designs, but it goes far beyond. With workshops set in the Southern regions of Italy, Mr. Potter stands by fair trade and along with its suppliers and artists it is committed to sustainable practices that have zero-impact on our ecosystem such as the use of renewable energy and the re-cycle and up-cycle of all waste materials.

Although very young, the whole crew at Mr. Potter believes that as human beings, we are at a turning point of our collective evolution and that the most important thing at this stage is the awareness that we create around what it’s really happening to us and to our planet, in order to give people the chance to make their own choices in a more conscious and perhaps ethical way.
Along this line, the brand has recently launched its official blog “Quit the box!” whose ultimate mission is to inform and inspire new generations of young people to live more sustainable lives, as well as to encourage their creativity and support their diversity in a society that is unfortunately still too crowded by stereotypes.
