Matt Mellen is a communicator and strategist specializing in creative environmental campaigns. Matt has broad experience working for environmental NGOs and with major corporations, including high profile posts within flagship campaigns led by Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai and HRH Prince Charles. His CV includes leading roles in organizations such as BioRegional, Clownfish and Trillion Fund.
His first degree was in Biology from the University of Bristol. He completed a second degree (MSc – distinction) in Environmental Technology at Imperial College, London. His thesis Green and Happy was released by Imperial as a press release, which got picked up by media outlets globally and became 2011’s most popular feature on Positive News as Ten Reasons Green People are Happier and has also been used by StartUK: here. Since Imperial he has worked for several leading environmental organizations including the Greenbelt Movement for whom he wrote the report Responding to Climate Change from the Grass Roots which was well received at COP 15.
He has also spent several stints participating in ecosystems surveys, in the Indonesian rainforest and coral reefs, at a shark research lab in the Bahamas and in the UK.
